Safe by design.

What Meridian can and can’t do with your money and your data, in plain words.

  • Banks connect through Plaid.

You sign in to your bank inside Plaid’s window, so Meridian never sees your bank username or password.

  • Meridian can’t move money.

There is no way to pay, transfer or trade from Meridian. It reads your accounts and never acts on them.

  • Bank access is encrypted.

The tokens that let Meridian read your banks are encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM, and never sent to your browser.

  • Your data is walled off.

The database itself keeps each person’s records apart, with row-level security, not just the app’s code.

  • Leave any time.

Export your data or delete your account whenever you like. Deletion revokes Meridian’s access to your banks first.

Questions

What does Free include?

The accounts and transactions you add by hand, with budgets, cash flow, net worth and CSV export. Free doesn’t link banks or include the advisor; those come with the paid plans, opening soon.

How does linking a bank work, and is it safe?

On a paid plan you link a bank through Plaid. You sign in to your bank in Plaid’s window, so Meridian never sees your bank password. Plaid gives Meridian an access token, which Meridian encrypts and uses only to read your accounts. You can remove a bank from Accounts at any time.

What is the advisor, and what isn’t it?

An AI, on the paid plans, that reads your own figures and answers questions about them in plain words. Your question and the figures it needs go to the AI provider Meridian uses, and Meridian doesn’t keep the conversation. It’s information, not financial advice: it never moves money, and it can be wrong, so check figures that matter.

What happens to my data if I change plans or leave?

Changing plans never deletes anything. On a smaller plan, your newest banks pause and keep what they brought in; after 30 days paused, a bank disconnects and keeps its history, read-only. To leave, download your data from Settings, then delete your account there. Meridian revokes its access to your banks first, then removes your records.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. Meridian runs in your phone’s browser, laid out for a small screen, under the same skies. There’s no app to install.

Start with one account, and add the rest when you like.
