Terms of use

Last updated October 6, 2026

These terms

These terms are an agreement between you and the operator of Meridian (“we” or “us”), who runs Meridian. They cover the Meridian website and app. By creating an account or using Meridian, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Meridian.

The privacy policy explains what Meridian keeps about you, what it sends to other companies and why. It is part of these terms.

Who can use Meridian

You must be at least 18 years old and able to make a binding agreement.

An account is for one person and their own finances. Keep your password to yourself. If you think someone else has used your account, reset your password and sign out of all sessions in Settings.

You’re responsible for what happens in your account, and for the accuracy of anything you add by hand.

What Meridian is

Meridian shows your own money in one place: the accounts you link or add by hand, your transactions, budgets, recurring charges, cash flow, net worth and investments.

Meridian gives you information, not financial, investment, tax or legal advice. It never moves money: it has no way to make payments, transfers or trades, and every decision about your money is yours.

Figures come from your banks, through Plaid, and from what you enter. They can be late, incomplete or wrong, so check anything important with your bank before you rely on it.

Plans

Meridian has a free plan and paid plans. What each one includes, and what it costs, is on the pricing page.

Paid plans aren’t on sale yet, and new accounts start on Free. Before any plan is sold, these terms will be updated to cover payment, renewal and cancellation, and nobody will be charged without agreeing to them.

Free is manual entry: you add accounts and transactions by hand. Linking banks and the advisor come with the paid plans, each with its own limits.

If your plan changes to one with fewer banks, the banks above its limit pause: they stop updating and keep what they brought in. A bank paused for 30 days is disconnected, and its history stays in your account, read-only. Changing plans never deletes your data.

Linking banks

On a plan that includes banks, you can link them through Plaid, a company that connects apps to financial institutions. You sign in to your bank in Plaid’s window, so Meridian never sees your bank password.

When you link a bank, you also agree to the terms Plaid shows you, and Plaid handles your data under its own privacy policy.

You can unlink a bank at any time on Accounts. Unlinking ends Meridian’s access to that bank and removes its accounts and transactions from Meridian.

The advisor

The advisor answers questions about your own numbers and writes reviews of your spending and investments, using an AI model from another company.

Information, not financial advice. It never moves money, and it can be wrong, so check figures that matter.

The advisor can misread figures or state things that aren’t true. A review may suggest changes to your spending or investments: it is produced automatically from your figures and preferences, not by a person, and it doesn’t know everything about your situation. Talk to a qualified professional before acting on anything important.

Nothing is sent to the AI company until you allow it, and only when you ask a question or request a review. The privacy policy says exactly what is sent. How much you can use the advisor depends on your plan.

Your data

Your data is yours. You let us store and process it only to run Meridian for you, as the privacy policy describes. We never sell it.

You can download your records at any time from Settings (Download my data), and delete your account there. Deletion first ends Meridian’s access to your linked banks, then removes your records; if a bank can’t be reached, deletion stays pending and retries.

Using Meridian fairly

Don’t use Meridian to break the law, to reach anyone else’s data, or to harm the service or the people who use it.

Don’t try to get around plan limits or rate limits, probe or overload the service, or copy it in bulk with automated tools.

Only add or link accounts you have the right to use.

Availability

Meridian is provided as it is and as available. We work to keep it running and its figures right, but it can be interrupted, slow or wrong, and banks or Plaid can stop sending data.

Features can change or be removed. While your account exists, you can always download your data from Settings.

Ending your use

You can stop using Meridian at any time, and delete your account in Settings.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts the service or other people at risk. Where we reasonably can, we’ll tell you why first and give you a chance to download your data.

Limits on liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Meridian and the operator of Meridian aren’t responsible for decisions you make based on what Meridian shows you, or for losses caused by late, missing or wrong figures, by the advisor’s answers, or by the service being unavailable.

To the fullest extent the law allows, our total responsibility for any claim about Meridian is limited to what you paid us for Meridian in the 12 months before the claim. Some places don’t allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top of this page shows when they last changed. If you keep using Meridian after a change, the new terms apply. If you don’t agree with them, you can download your data and delete your account.
